1. Udit Narayan belongs to Nepal, but he was born on 1st December 1955 in a small village Baisi in Bihar- He is a playback singer of Nepalese paternal descent. He has sung many songs for Bollywood movies and was one of the prominent ustads (teachers) of the music industry from the early 90s till date.
2. He got his education from Nepal and later moved to Mumbai in 1978. Narayan took his elementary education from Jageshwar High School in Bihar, India. Furthermore, he completed his high school education from Ratna Rajya Lakshmi Campus, Kathmandu, Nepal.
3. His father Hare Krishna Jha was a farmer and mother Bhuwaneshwari Devi was a singer- Udit Narayan belongs to a small middle-class family and marked his worth in the industry with some of his best creations in music. His mother was a folk singer of her times.
4. Udit Narayan married Deepa Narayana in 1985. She is also a singer and even so they have also sung many songs together. They met in 1979 for a Nepali album cut ‘Hamro Geet’ that later turned out to be a blockbuster in Nepali. The duo then started dating together and got married in 1985. They have a son Aditya Narayan who is the host of multiple blockbuster TV shows and also a playback singer. The couple sang over 300-400 Nepali movies’ songs together.
5. He is accorded with 3 National Awards, 5 Filmfare Awards, Padma Shri in 2009 and Padma Bhushan in 2016- He has attained a triumph in his career and bagged many awards for his exceptional work in music. Furthermore, he received many awards for his exceptional songs. He also bagged many Civil Honors and Outstanding Honors and Award:

6. He is the only male singer in the history of Filmfare Awards to have won in over three decades (the 80s, 90, and 2000s)- In 1988, he got Filmfare Award for his song ‘Papa Kehte Hain’. Moreover, he won another Filmfare for the song ‘Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna’, in 1997 he won for ‘Pardesi Pardesi’, in 2000 Narayan won Filmfare for ‘Chand Chupa Badal Mein’ and in 2002 for the song ‘Mitwa’.
7. He has awarded Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu by the king of Nepal Late Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. In 2001, Udit Narayan won this award for his contribution in Nepali music industry by King Birendra Bir Bikram Singh.
8. As many as 21 of his tracks features in BBC's "Top 40 Bollywood Soundtracks of all time, songs like “Papa Kehte Hain”, “Pehla Nasha”, “Pardeshi Pardeshi”, “Taal se Taal”, “Jaadu Teri Najar” etc. are still on many Hindi song lovers’ playlist too.

10. He is a polyglot of the music industry and sung songs in many different languages. He began his career in 1970 as a Maithili folk singer for Radio Nepal. Narayan started his Bollywood career in 1980 as a playback singer in Bollywood movie “Unnees Bees”. In that film, he got a chance to sing along with the music legend Mohammed Rafi. He sang duet songs with other music greats like Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Kumar Saanu, Anu Malik, Hariharan, and many more.
